The isoflavones of the soy milk

Lunes 11 Agosto 2008 - 15:10

Soy milk is a good substitute of cow milk for milk intolerance persons. But, do you know the recommendations that some health organisations give about children drinking this kind of milk?

The Federal Office of Switzerland Public Health (OFSP) says that the children consumption of products derived from soy doesn’t have to exceed one or two portions by day. Even more, is not recommendable to give soy products to children that are less than 6 years old.

This is due to the isoflavones that soy milk contains, female hormones or estrogens. In the other hand, is very recommendable for menopause women to reduce their symptoms and the osteoporosis prevention and to the adults in general for the breast cancer prevention and even more, to reduce the cholesterol level.

So I recommend you to moderate the quantity of soy milk that give to your children, and maybe to find another type of vegetal milk, like rice milk or almond milk.
