Switzerland said YES to the homeopathy be included in Health Insurance

Yesterday May 17th Swiss citizens voted in a referendum whether they wanted that Homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Phytotherapy, Anthroposophic Medicine and Neural Therapy was included in the basic health insurance.

The result was YES with 67% , non with 15%, and 18% undecided. The reasons why the political parties stand for non were the fact of that it will make increase the expense in health , and the monthly fees in insurances will increase. But in a survey made before the elections, 57% of people thought that complementary medicine are less expensive than conventional medicine.

I’m glad of the result, in my point of view alternative medicine is less expensive in long time, because it is based in a health system, and don’t based in an illness system like the conventional medicine, if it is used as it must be, that is, the goal is prevention of diseases and to strength the immunity system. If it is used only as complementary medicine, adding alternative treatments to the conventional medicine, there’s not doubt that the costs will double. Although the patient will recover fast and better, and the side effects of conventional medicine will be palliated.

I hope that Swiss model is followed by other countries, and alternative and complementary medicines are not a luxury of few some but accessible to all the people.
