1. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) headquartered in Washington DC in the United States is a non-profit organization which carries out advocacy and environmental research regarding toxic chemicals, agricultural subsidies, public lands, and corporate accountability.

2. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has created a database of the chemicals and they are in tens of thousands of products.

3. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) database identifies over 14,000 of the products contained chemicals that are linked to cancer.

4. A further surprise was that the health effects of over 85% of the chemicals in these have not been studied and are unknown.

5. Our society has funded research and development which has made amazing advances in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer with new breakthroughs being made daily yet the incidence rate of cancer is increasing and millions are dying of cancer each year.

6. We should all carefully contemplate the possibility that the incidence rate of cancer in our society is increasing because we are ingesting and exposing ourselves to hundreds of different chemicals in the foods that we eat, the air we breathe and the personal care products that we choose to use. In addition to the products with ingredients linked to cancer, we face the problem that the combinations of the hundreds of chemicals we use every day may also be causing a risk to our health.

7. COMMON SENSE SOLUTION: Why not reduce you and your family?s exposure to chemicals and reduce your potential health risks? I am replacing many of my family?s personal care products with simpler products which contain 90% to 95% fewer chemicals which are naturally derived and are generally regarded as safe. I am avoiding chemicals whose health effects are unknown.
