A clinical study in children with ADHD showed that they significant improved both their clinical scores and identified EEG patterns when their diets were supplemented with krill oil for a period of 13 weeks.
The EEG patterns of the study participants were compared to a database of more than 400 children with an established ADHD diagnosis, providing ample comparative data. Dr. Hogne Wik said, “This is an important observation identifying positive effects on the central nervous system (CNS) after supplementation of krill oil in humans. Medications commonly prescribed to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are associated with an increased risk of sudden death, according to new research. Children and teens taking ADHD stimulant medications were seven times more likely to die suddenly than their peers.
As many as 2.5 million children in the United States take ADHD stimulant medications, such as amphetamine, dextroamphetamine (Adderall), methamphetamine or methylphenidate (Ritalin).
