A lab hired by the United Commercial Fishermen's Association analyzed coastal fishing waters. The results indicate that the U.S. government's claim that Gulf of Mexico seafood is safe to eat may be premature.

The lab found dispersant in a sample taken near Biloxi, Missouri, almost a month after BP said it had stopped using the toxic chemical to break up crude oil from the Gulf spill.

Johnson & Johnson baby productsIn the aftermath of a report revealing that popular Johnson & Johnson baby care products contain carcinogens, a coalition of environmental, health and consumer groups are demanding the company remove the toxins from their product line.

The chemicals in question are 1,4-dioxane and preservatives that release formaldehyde. A letter was sent to Johnson & Johnson by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and was signed by nearly 50 groups representing about 1.7 million members, from the Environmental Working Group and Friends of the Earth to the American Nurses Association and Physicians for Social Responsibility, according to an Associated Press story.

Mercola.com. Considerably more people than previously believed are allergic to the most common fragrance ingredient used in shampoos, conditioners and soap. In a study, over 5 percent of those who underwent patch testing were allergic to the air oxidized form of the fragrance ingredient linalool.

Linalool is found in 60 to 80 percent of perfumed hygiene products, soap and household cleaning agents that can be bought in the supermarket, so it can be difficult for people who are allergic to avoid these products.

In the study, oxidized linalool was added at patch testing for more than 3,000 patients who wanted to find out what was causing their eczema. Between 5 percent and 7 percent proved to be allergic.

Dozens of top-selling children'a bath products are contaminated with cancer-causing chemicals formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane, according to a new report and products tests released by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and groups around the country.

This study is the first to document the widespread presence of both formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane in bath products for children. Formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane are listed as probable human carcinogens by the Environmental Protection Agency.  Formaldehyde can also trigger skin rashes in some children.

Researchers from the Catalan Institute of Oncology and the University of Granada in Spain have revealed for the first time that all the major complex polyphenols present in good quality extra-virgin olive oil drastically suppress over expression of the cancer gene HER2 in human breast cancer cells.

Researchers from the Lipids and Atherosclerosis Unit of the Reina Sofía University Hospital in Spain have conducted a study in order to determine the influence of the micronutrients of certain fats on cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancer, and if their consumption might modify the inflammatory process in healthy people.

They studied diets based on three different fatty compositions, namely extra virgin olive oil, nuts and butter, observing that extra virgin olive oil modulates a healthy downward trend on individuals? inflammatory levels, whereas a diet rich in nuts has an intermediate effect and the diet rich in butter exerts a damaging effect on inflammation mediators.
